The Soul of an Octopus

I really loved this emotional, effusive, warm book. Montgomery weaves strands of scientific information, personal memoir, and--my favorite--tales of friendships with several octopuses. These octopuses really shine through the narrative as complex, complete beings who are alien to humans. It seem Montgomery found a way to genuinely connect with them, although they do remain fundamentally mysterious.

A fascinating read for any writer who is working in the realm of non-human intelligence or expanded consciousness.
