Frog Music, by Emma Donoghue

Frog Music is widely read and no one needs me to review it thoroughly, so I'll just say that I'm honestly shocked that this book is rated so low overall on goodreads. I picked it up thinking it was a murder mystery, and although it's only sort of structured that way, I thought it was fantastic. Blanche is an unusual, authentic character who is deeply flawed and deeply sympathetic. Jenny is, too--unique in the way every human being is unique, bright, foolish, damaged, lovable.

This book is rich, lush, dirty, gorgeous. Really glad I read it.
