Super quick road trip review: this book is light, fun, sweet, and adventurous. I liked its unusual structure, and the low-tension romp through a series of cultural contacts, with a background of devastating grief and romantic tension was a delicacy. If you like Martha Wells and/or Lois McMaster Bujold, you'll like this!
